Inactivated hepatitis A vaccine
Indications/Uses
Active immunization against HAV infection in patients at risk of exposure to HAV.
Dosage/Direction for Use
IM Havrix 1440 Adult Adult ≥19 yr Primary immunization: 1 mL single dose. Havrix 720 Junior Childn & adolescent 1-18 yr Primary immunization: 0.5 mL single dose. Booster dose: Any time between 6-12 mth after the primary dose.
Special Precautions
Postpone administration in patients w/ acute severe febrile illness. Administer additional doses in patients undergoing hemodialysis & w/ impaired immune system. Anaphylactic reaction & syncope may occur. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Irritability; headache; pain & redness at inj site, fatigue. Appetite loss; drowsiness; GI symptoms (eg, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting); malaise, fever (≥37.5°C), inj site reaction (eg, swelling or induration).
